Read more1 June EFTPOS Upgrade
On 1 June 2011 – EFTPOS terminals using 5.1 software will be Blocked from transacting. That means if you have one of these terminals you’ll be back to accepting cash and cheques!
There were still over 24,500 terminals nationwide on 31 March 2011 using 5.1 software connected to the Paymark
Eftpos network that need to be replaced before 1 June 2011. Only a small percentage of those terminals are able to be upgraded.
Paymark and the Banks have already blocked 400 terminals from transacting because 5.1 dispensations had run out on 28 February – Once the Sunset date has passed on 1st June – 5.1 Terminals will be Blocked from transacting.
